SUMMARY:Gesher: Building Bridges
DESCRIPTION:Since October 7th\, we’ve felt many things—grief\, mourning\, anger\, fear\, confusion. And one thing has been missing: dialogue. “Gesher: Building Bridges” is a new Tufts Hillel initiative aimed at bridging the divides within the Jewish community. \n\n\n\nGesher fellows will engage in weekly seminars over 10 weeks to study diverse perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a focus on seeing the other and building bridges\, particularly amid the ongoing war. We will delve into important themes\, including identity\, diaspora\, humanization\, and challenging hate. This is a student-led fellowship designed for all students—Jewish and allies alike—committed to shared learning\, open to new experiences\, and respectful toward diverse voices. Fellows will have the opportunity to explore their own views in a challenging\, tolerant\, and respectful environment. The fellowship will feature a highly subsidized trip over Patriots’ Day Weekend to hear insightful speakers and come together in pursuit of collective healing.

You can expect great food\, connection with your community\, and spiritual renewal! The cost of your meals will be covered if you do not have a meal plan. \n\n\n\nDo Seders and meals cost money?\n\n\n\nThere is no additional cost to students since we accept meal swipes.  \n\n\n\nIf you are on a meal plan\, we ask that you use a meal swipe for your meal(s) if possible\, so that we can subsidize meals for you and for those without meal plans (simply sign up!).  \n\n\n\nIf you are not on a meal plan\, or do not have enough meal swipes\, Hillel will cover the costs of your Seders and meals (simply sign up!). \n\n\n\nTransparent Meal pricing: We’ve got you!  \n\n\n\nThe cost to Tufts Hillel for Seders is over $40 per person and the cost of other meals is $25 per person.  The value of a meal swipe is approximately $17 per meal.  Tufts Hillel pays the cost difference.  \n\n\n\nCan I take my (non-Seder) meals to-go?\n\n\n\nYes! To-go containers are available throughout passover. We’ve done our best to work around the class time blocks. For example\, lunch starts at 11:45\, so if you need to stop by in between your 10:30-11:45 and 12:00-1:15 classes\, you will be able to. You will need to sign up in advance via SMS. \n\n\n\nCan I pick up a to-go meal for a friend?\n\n\n\nYes! As long as your friend is registered for their meal(s) in advance via SMS. You must also be able to let the check-in desk know if they are using a meal swipe for the meal you’re picking up. \n\n\n\nWhat if I’m planning my own Seder? \n\n\n\nWe’ve got you! Sign up for a pre-made Seder Plate via SMS (see keyword above). \n\n\n\nWhat if I missed the deadline to sign up!? \n\n\n\nWalk-ins:\n\n\n\nIf you sign up in advance via SMS your meal is guaranteed. \n\n\n\nIf you missed the deadline to sign up and would like to join us\, please come early and we will do our best to accommodate you depending on availability but can not guarantee a meal. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you! \n\n\n\nWhat about special dietary needs?\n\n\n\nWe do our best to accommodate all allergies and dietary preferences. All food is dairy free and nut free. SUMMARY:Gesher: Building Bridges
DESCRIPTION:Since October 7th\, we’ve felt many things—grief\, mourning\, anger\, fear\, confusion. And one thing has been missing: dialogue. “Gesher: Building Bridges” is a new Tufts Hillel initiative aimed at bridging the divides within the Jewish community. \n\n\n\nGesher fellows will engage in weekly seminars over 10 weeks to study diverse perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a focus on seeing the other and building bridges\, particularly amid the ongoing war. We will delve into important themes\, including identity\, diaspora\, humanization\, and challenging hate. This is a student-led fellowship designed for all students—Jewish and allies alike—committed to shared learning\, open to new experiences\, and respectful toward diverse voices. Fellows will have the opportunity to explore their own views in a challenging\, tolerant\, and respectful environment. The fellowship will feature a highly subsidized trip over Patriots’ Day Weekend to hear insightful speakers and come together in pursuit of collective healing.

DESCRIPTION:Students and faculty members will meet weekly to discuss readings from Aaron J. Hahn Tapper and Mira Sucharov’s book “Social Justice and Israel/Palestine: Foundational and Contemporary Debates.” We will allot time during the meetings for participants to read the texts that we will be discussing\, so no outside reading is necessary. All reading materials will be provided\, and discussions will be run so that weekly attendance is not necessary to participate. Feel free to join us whenever you can!
