DESCRIPTION:Are you looking to explore big questions\, build new friendships\, and dive into your Jewish identity? Applications are now open for the Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF)\, a 10-week stipended fellowship at Tufts Hillel beginning in second semester.  \n\n\n\nThe Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is a 10-week experiential\, conversational cohort for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism on their own terms. The theme of next semester’s Jewish Learning Fellowship will be “Life’s Big Questions\,” discussing topics including Shabbat\, relationships\, personal identities\, and more. The fellowship is for people of all backgrounds\, experiences\, and connections to Judaism. Join diplomats Dennis Ross and Ghaith al-Omari\, experienced negotiators and experts\, in a conversation about past initiatives to make peace\, the present situation\, and what the future in the region might look like.  \n\n\n\nDinner will be served.  \n\n\n\nRegistration strongly encouraged\, and student IDs and sign-in will be required at the door. \n\n\n\nSpeaker Bios \n\n\n\nGhaith al-Omari is the former executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine. He served as advisor to the Palestinian negotiating team during the 1999–2001 permanent-status talks and has held various other positions within the Palestinian Authority.  \n\n\n\nAmbassador Dennis Ross has served in a multitude of positions in the White House\, including as special assistant to President Obama and the point person on the Middle East peace process for the George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations. He helped broker the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace treaty and the 1995 Interim Agreement (Oslo II). They’ll bring their expertise together to give a glimpse into the challenges faced in the region and offer insights into the current situation.

DESCRIPTION:Students and faculty members will meet weekly to discuss readings from Aaron J. Hahn Tapper and Mira Sucharov’s book “Social Justice and Israel/Palestine: Foundational and Contemporary Debates.” We will allot time during the meetings for participants to read the texts that we will be discussing\, so no outside reading is necessary. All reading materials will be provided\, and discussions will be run so that weekly attendance is not necessary to participate. Feel free to join us whenever you can! DESCRIPTION:Join Tufts Hillel on Music Shabbat\, for an evening full of song\, music\, and community. Everyone is welcome! Bring your voices\, music/poetry/short stories\, listen to your peers\, join in dinner and games\, and much more. \n\n\n\nThere will be a Pre-Candles Coffee House: From 5:00-6:00. Bring an instrument\, a song\, a poem\, or any form of music or thought you would like to share with the community! Live music (including instruments)\, a hot chocolate bar\, and more. \n\n\n\nCandle Lighting and Services: At 6:00\, we will bring in Shabbat with candle lighting\, followed by reform and conservative services. \n\n\n\nDinner: At 7:00\, there will be a free community dinner\, with games and more. Post-Dinner Tish: \n\n\n\nFollowing dinner\, we will be holding an evening song session and Tish\, from 8:00 – 9:00. There will be songs\, nigguns (wordless melodies)\, and more.
