DESCRIPTION:In Person at Tufts Hillel \n\n\n\nEvery other week this fall\, sit down with someone whose life has been impacted by genocide\, from survivors to their children to those who commit themselves to preventing future genocides. \n\n\n\nDinner will be served! \n\n\n\nAbout Liliane Pari Umuhoza:  \n\n\n\nLiliane is a human rights advocate. She was born and raised in Rwanda and graduated from Juniata College\, in Pennsylvania with a B.A in Peace and Conflict studies. Liliane uses her life experience of surviving the Genocide against the Tutsi and her work with non-profits to promote peace and summon global dialogue and actions against human right abuses. She is the founder of ” Women Genocide Survivors Retreat ” a program supporting women survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and works as a project officer for Foundation Rwanda in Kigali. Liliane has spoken at events related to peace-building\, human rights\, and women empowerment at universities\, the UN\, the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington DC\, the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City\, and many others.

SUMMARY:Tufts Fellowship Class General Interest Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Rwanda Fellowship program offers an in-depth analysis of Rwandan history\, culture\, genocide\, and reconstruction as impacted by external colonial powers and internal political and ethnic dynamics. \n\n\n\nWe will learn from an accomplished array of speakers\, including first-hand survivors and renowned researchers of the Rwandan genocide\, through a community-focused ex-college class that is 2 SHUs and will meet in person on Tuesdays 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. \n\n\n\nThis Fellowship’s class component is followed by a subsidized 10-day trip to Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda\, where fellows are fully immersed in the culture of Rwanda through the lens of reconciliation and care exemplified by the Rwandan people. \n\n\n\nLink to Application Form Here.

In 2022\, he graduated from Tufts with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics. Now\, he lives in New York City and works as a technology analyst at Morgan Stanley.
